RPC Logon: Introduction

What is RPC Logon

RPC Logon is an easy to manage alternative to using logon scripts (Command-scripts, Visual Basic-scripts or Java-scripts) when users logon.

How it works

When the user logon to Windows, the RPC Logon application runs and performs the following tasks:

  • Download updated DLL files
  • Download logon data (either MDB-file or from MSSQL server)
  • Execute logon data

Download updated DLL files: Most of the application logic is stored into DLL-files. To update the application on each computer in your network, you simply copy the new DLL-files to your server.

Download logon data (either MDB-file or from MSSQL server): The logon data is managed from the RPC Logon Administrator application. These data can be stored in a Microsoft Access database file (MDB-file) which is downloaded from the server alongside the DLL-files. As an alternative the logon data can be stored in a Microsoft SQL database.

Execute logon data: The logon data is executed on the users computer.
